How do I submit to Moodle?

There are various submission types in Moodle. Depending on the submission type, please see below some guidance videos and instructions covering the most common scenarios.

Please note that Moodle has a file size limit of 100MB on any file submission. Videos submitted via Kaltura have a 2GB file size limit. Files exceeding the size limit cannot be accepted. You can find more information about how to create and submit your assessment here

How to upload a file on Moodle

1. Find the relevant submission area via the ‘My Assessment Timeline’

2. Scroll to the bottom and click ‘Upload your submission’.

3. Drop or choose a file to upload.

4. Read the terms, tick ‘I agree to the terms’, and then click ‘Submit’.

5. Your file is now submitted.

6. If you wish to change your submission, click on ‘Edit your submission’.

7. Select the file and click ‘Delete’

8. Drop or choose a new file to upload.

9. Read the terms, tick ‘I agree to the terms’, and then click ‘Submit’.

10. Your new file is now submitted.

How to upload a video on Moodle

1. Find the relevant submission area via the ‘My Assessment Timeline’.

2. Scroll to the bottom and click ‘Upload your submission’.

3. Click on the Kaltura icon.

4. Click on ‘+ Add New’.

5. Select ‘Media Upload’.

6. Drop or choose a file to upload.

7. Select ‘Save and Embed’.  

8. Read the terms, tick ‘I agree to the terms’, and then click ‘Submit’.

9. Please note that large files may take a while to upload.

10. Your file is now submitted.

11. If you wish to change your submission, click on ‘Edit your submission’ and follow the same process.

How to complete a quiz on Moodle

1. Find the relevant submission area via the ‘My Assessment Timeline’.

2. Click ‘Attempt quiz’.

3. If asked, enter the relevant password, then click 'Start attempt'.

4. Start your quiz attempt.  

5. Once you have answered all the questions, click ‘Finish attempt’.

6. You can review your answers here. If you wish to change any of them, click ‘Return to attempt’.

7. Once you are satisfied with your answers, click ‘Submit all and finish’.

8. Click ‘Submit all and finish’ again. You won’t be able to amend your answers or re-enter the quiz.

9. All your answers are now submitted, and your quiz is complete.
