Repeating the year with attendance means you will be expected to attend classes for the module(s) you are repeating. The answer to this depends on several factors:
- If you have failed up to and including 60 credits, you will take your resits over summer
- If you have failed more than 60 credits and less than 120 credits, you will resit next year without attendance.
- If you have failed all 120 credits, you must have a 20% level average to be able to repeat with attendance in the following year.
- If you don't have a 20% level average, you won't be able to resit and have failed the course.
If you are due to take your resits in summer and would like to repeat with attendance next year instead please complete the repeat with attendance form before your first summer resit date.
If you are due to resit without attendance next year and would like to repeat with attendance instead please complete the repeat with attendance form before 10 October 2025.
Requests to repeat with attendance are subject to approval by the programme leader and you can only repeat with attendance once.
If your assessment has been deferred due to an accepted evidenced extension you may be allowed to do a larger number of reassessments over the summer.
Please note, students that repeat assessments without attendance will not be required to pay any fees. However, if you choose to be reassessed with attendance you will need to pay the full module tuition fee for each failed module. If you have failed every module, and have been permitted to repeat, you will automatically repeat with attendance. Please see the form below Switch to repeat with attendance : Manchester Metropolitan University
For postgraduate students, modules will be reassessed without attendance by default unless requested.
If you are a student on a visa, please contact the Visa Compliance team (PBSReporting@mmu.ac.uk) to discuss your options. You may be able to apply for a visa extension which will cover your reassessment, or you may be able to apply to switch to repeat with attendance, subject to certain conditions. There will be a fee for repeating with attendance. If you are not eligible to stay in the country to complete your reassessment, you may be able to make arrangements to do your reassessment from your home country. Do not complete the form unless you have been advised to do so by the visa and immigration teams.
If you feel that there have been circumstances that have significantly affected your performance in your assessments (for example, a medical emergency or bereavement) please review the guidance, including the procedure for submitting a request for an extension or deferral Assessments | Manchester Metropolitan University (mmu.ac.uk). This guidance also includes examples of the permitted grounds for an evidenced extension.
There will need to be a compelling reason you could not submit the claim on time, and you would need to provide evidence of this. Evidence should be time relevant and from an impartial third party.
