To prove your right to work in the UK, you must present your valid visa or Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) to your employer.

We advise students to generate a share code through the UKVI (United Kingdom Visas and Immigration) online service. This allows your employer to check your immigration status (right to work), but it does not include academic details such as your course end date or CAS: https://www.gov.uk/prove-right-to-work

If your employer requires academic information, such as your course end date, you can provide:

Please carefully read through the University's most up-to-date Working in the UK guidance for information about working hours, including details on term-time and post-course work allowances: https://www.mmu.ac.uk/student-life/working-in-the-uk

Important Reminders:

  • Your employer is responsible for checking your documents to confirm if you are allowed to work and how many hours you can work.
  • The University cannot give you permission to work. Permission to work comes from UKVI rules, and your visa and/or BRP will show this information.
  • The University cannot issue special letters to confirm early submissions of work (for example, if you are a Postgraduate Taught student who has submitted your final dissertation early).
